Fortitude Training (Review)

You wouldn't like it dude.
Far too complex for your liking.
I don't mean that as a slight I just know how you develop anxiety if you over think shit.
This plan requires a lot of forethought and detailed log keeping as a start!
Yep thats another thing i thort about it mate! Agree with it when it ends up like that i end up thinkin too much about the weights rather than actually just traning hard

I have been doing it for last 16 weeks or so and love it

I do my own modified version and include more muscle rounds and load sets for some body parts

It's also a fun workout

You do more volume than tier 3???

Well seeing that this thread is brought back up.
I am going to mention what a stand up guy @Scott Stevenson is!
Back in Feb we couldn't make it to his camp in Tampa due to wickedly bad weather!
Now there is another camp next month in Miami.
The guy only went and refunded me for the first camp so that I could pay the organizer of the second camp.
Very stand up behavior:thumb:

I love FT back on it now.
I do find you need a training partner to do it correctly and to push safely as hard as possible.

This time I started on tier 1 normally I would start on tier 3 because I like punishment:lol:
But tier 1 is actually really cool because you can go balls to the wall on usually only 1 set and then call it a day for that exercise.
Amazingly enough the workouts still take me 90 minutes BUT as a gym owner I can't simply tell people to "f**** off" because I am training if they ask me some thing! lol

The only issue I have run into with my current training partner is the guy INSISTS on using my weights as his weights.
So yesterday when I inclined the 150lbers for 9 reps he inclined them for 6 reps......with my hands needing to assist him on most every rep.
Shoulder pressed 275lb for 6 and then he did the same with me assisting on every rep:sad:
As he has always been a huge fan of forced reps I find it very hard to deter him from this method of training (as in I am sure he would get offended if I didn't give him the forced reps!).
On the other hand this is a recipe for extreme burn out and seeing that his back is already half crippled from where he tried to keep up with me on rows.....3 weeks ago!
I am stuck between a rock and a hard place!

Lol just step back and see what he gets on his own and may be spot one-two reps...
Fuck spotting some one every rep of a 6-9 rep set...
Becomes a workout in its self...

I'd sack him off mate

Just a thought on exercise selection on loading sets (have scaned though as this may of been askrd and answered)

Is it essential to only choose one compound movement for loading set and performance two sets of them (if in higher tire)
Or could you potentialy have two movements for a loading set of each ?
Eg:
Back loading sets-
Cable row
Rack pull up
Tbar row
Rack pull up
nothing is essential as such but by using one exercise per week (out of the 3 you choose) you see progression in that lift much better imo, but your compound movements on say tier 3 would be the 1st and 3rd set the 2nd and 4th set would be down to what you choose but again i find consistency to be the best way forward.

i could not do that, my training partner is stronger on some lifts and weaker on others i insist on changing the weights.....

wow their 3 with its existing volume is hard i could not imagine doing more if it is all done correctly to be honest....

i am back to the 3 day FT system properly this week....

If I have to spot too much on a bench press I just pull the bar back in the rack...
Db's, I spot then ill say "dump em" and I'll step so they have no choice...
On big lifts like squat I dnt spot...
Just help un rack and re rack...

I got my own weights to lift
Fuck lifting yours too!

Haha well if it happens again to that extent I am going to do that!

Yes I do volume Thier 3

I add in an extra muscle round and load for chest as I think chest doesn't get indirectly worked by working other body parts

Also add in a muscle round and load for traps

Then an extra muscle round for bicep and tricep

Not sure if I follow here, but if the list of exercises above is what you'd do on one workout, I'd probably suggest not doing that, for a few reasons:

1.) You'd be trying to hold down 3 machines.
2.) You'd want to warm up on al three exercises - to be ready for the go set.
3.) The Loading sets are very progressive overload oriented, so you've have a bit of an accounting mess here trying to keep track of all three.
4.) You can get plenty of variety in the other back exercises for the week, esp. if on a Tier III
5.) I like to "Keep it Simple, Scott" :)

That's certainly going to be physically destroying haha.
I need a nap after each FT workout they really wear me out!

I love the fact that arms are trained very little.
I have never trained arms much as I found it pointless.....what's a tricep pushdown going to do that an extremely heavy chest press wont do for the triceps?!

I cnt agree there tho, my arms r proper shit but chest is relitevley decent/strong i recon they do need there own work, not so much pushdowns tho more like cg bench and skulls etc

Ah, there was no question about this, my man. :)

It can be done without a partner, but it's nice to have one.

Ah, man... He's got a great mindset, but that's gonna run him into the ground. (You can tell him I said so... LOL ) I've seen that approach a few times and when that gets corrected (using forced reps, etc.) things take off... (I've done the same thing personally, long before FT...)

Well I appreciate it, I would do the same if in your situation for sure but so many would not.....

Yeah I did it without one successfully enough but I find it hard to count to 24 by my self:lol:
A client of mine bought me a rep counter (a little clicker) to count clients reps when doing things like GVT so I guess i would use that now but before I would really get confused.
Hard to go all out and remember what rep number you're on #meatheadproblems !
This is a big reason I didn't like MR's as much.
I found that lets say on hack squats if I hit failure on set 4 or 5 I would be pinned.
By the time I managed to un rack weights and get it back into the correct position my energy would be wasted AND more than 10 seconds would be lapsed.
With a training partner instead of getting pinned he can help get me back up on the failure rep.

I will tell him because there's no way he can progress if I am helping him slightly on every rep!

I am really looking forward to the camp as is my wife!
I look forward to pick your brains on some hands on stretching advice.
This is the area I struggle with the most and is also where I am lacking the most (not surprisingly!).
