How much sleep do you need and get?

I was talking to my mrs about this. I go to bed about 10:30 and get up at 8:30. If I don't get this I'm usually absolutely shattered.

How much sleep do you get and how much would you say you wanted. also, can you actually sleep too much?
 
I need 7 hours to feel rested. Any less and I am even more grumpy than usual lol!!

Im getting about 6 atm but I can cope with that for now. I usually go bed at 10.30 when im up at 5.30...

I think I read somewhere to see how much sleep you actually need you should go to bed at midnight and turn off your alarm and let yourself wake naturally. I did that and woke at around 7am :)

atm im getting about 11-12 hours a night
usually its about 7-8

can notice the difference now am getitng more, dont relli get as tired even dieting etc
 
i like to get 8 hours personally,i find if i have 10 or more im more tired next day,strange as it may sound.7 /8 hours is my average and i also get a few naps in over the weekend if i need them even just an hour.i think if i never had a job to get up to each day i could lay in till 12 easy.could be a right lazybastard tbh.
 
I get 2-3hrs sleep a night on average
 
When I was laid off work for a bit I would sleep 12 hours no problem!

Now I'm busy with my own business and find it hard to switch off- usually go sleep around 12.30-1 and up at 8.. So around 7 on average

May have a cheeky hour nap before gym if feeling particularly tired- doesn't help much though lol

2/3 hours a night id be fucked regardless if i worked or not how do u function?
 
I sleep 5-7 hours. I would like more, maybe a solid 8.

But I'm not doing badly at this amount I don't think
 
usually about 6 hours of dark time... how much sleep takes place is up and down depending on if I actually sleep or not... weekends if lucky its like 9 hours...
 
6-6.5 hrs for me sometimes less.

To the people who get similar amount of sleep to me...do you find it pretty much impossible to have a 'lie in' in the traditional sense?

A lie in for me is about 7-7.5 hrs I cant sleep for any longer than that my body just doesnt seem to let me

on monday morning just gone i woke up at 5-20am went for a slash and a drink and i was wide awake so thought id check my mails etc have a FB browse then thought i'll put my head down to chill out and i woke up at about 8-30 absolutey shattered.................why does that happen
 
I get around 8hrs of broken sleep. Wake up 3-4 times in the night.
 
I need at least 8 hours but I never get it with having little ones :)
