What's peoples thoughts on 'Intraworkout' drinks? Do you use them - EAA etc or a sports drink or do you just drink plain old H2O?

Personally I drink water - circa 500ml during a workout.

Anyone actually notice a real world difference from intraworkout 'fuel'?

I just have a bit of robinsons orange squash with water in a sports bottle to sip on, get through a 700ml bottle during an hours cardio.

Never tried any special workout drinks other than a pre workout stim once which was a hideous experience!

I think intra workout drinks are very important, fuel / aminos when the body needs them most.

I have creatine, glutamine, bcaa and glucose intra mate. that'll include around 2 ltrs of water as well

I see it as almost a pre-emptive strike to the damage about to be done, and the fuel to maximise that damage

EAA .. seems best of both worlds rather than just BCAA. Around 10g intra.

i did take BBW Excel for a while and did notice that recovery the next day was better than just h2o. Usually i just take h2o

Personally i dont bother and i just have water, more for the reason i cant afford any more than anything.

I have a whole food meal not long before training anyway, so i always assumed theres no real need to have extra aminos etc before as i should be pretty well covered, then just grab a shake and some fast and slow digesting carbs after.

I have a BCAA/taurine/creatine/glycine/phenylalanine mixed with waxy maize.

I drink 1/4 to a 1/2 from a shaker during workout then refill it as and when I need more fluid.

I've done this (or some similar combo) for the past year or so,
rarely get crippling DOMS, recovery is good in combination with PWO shake+meal,
I don't get fatigued in the gym allowing me to push harder and I've found that amino's and taurine increase my appetite.

I would like to start using an intraworkout shake but it's just a money thing for me really. At the moment i just have plain old 1.5ltrs of water

at the min am having a bottle of lucazade and a bottle of water, intra stuff imo is not needed especaily if your having pre and post drinks.

I have EAA,AAKG,glutamine,taurine,beta alanine,citruline malate,dextrose,electrolytes pre
then water intra

Agree with that.
I have done it both ways and never found the intra drinks to help if any thing they would bog me down during a workout.

I just drink my powdered BCAA's during my workout

^well bcaa's and a little glucose is always good.
When i think intra drinks i think Milos S. style mega drinks.
I did those for a long time and felt very ill from doing so!

Have started to notice a big difference using EAA's pre/during workout..... and BCAA's with Arginine pre/during fasted cardio.
